Urgh, no. I don’t know how I didn’t piece it together sooner but fucking hell, how can you be tattooed at someone’s house. I can’t stop cringing, I don’t know whether it’s the germaphobe of the tattoo apprentice inside me but that make me want to stab someone.
It’s wrong on…
Anyone who is BBP certified knows it’s absolutely 200% not okay to tattoo at home. You cannot keep an environment medical grade sterile, regardless if you have a home autoclave. That’s like saying its cool to do home cosmetic surgery because you know how to be sterile. It doesn’t matter if he won’t let his pets in the room, their fur and dander are still in the air, on his floor (or in his carpeting). Homes are also a breeding ground for Staph (again…didn’t learn this doing a research project, I got tattooed when I was 18 by a VERY good, professional and clean artist at him home and I still got staph, why? Because home sterilization isn’t the same as shop sterilization). Not to mention what his home is made of, materials used in home ceilings, flooring and walls are much different coding compared to businesses, and usually aren’t sealed and sterile.
Not only that but being in a shop means you’re a reputable artist and a shop trusts you to use their name. 9/10 home tattooers tattoo from home for a reason, and that reason isn’t because they’re Michelangelo.
I think the only person I trust with any kind of home body modification is Steve Hayworth, his home studio is the pinnacle of sterile grade stuff. He also doesn’t tattoo, he does heavier mods. Even then, that guy is a pioneer in Body Modification, and is the exception, not the rule.
Getting tattooed in a well respected shop is much safer and worth the extra money. I don’t care how good an artist is, if he wants to tattoo at his home, red flags are going up for me. Homes are not sterile to the degree of a tattoo shop. Homes are not built or set up for tattooing. You can tell the quality of home tattoos vs. tattoos done in a nice shop. Not saying there aren’t some grody ass shops out there, because there are. But when putting something on your body permanently, taking ALL precautions to not permanently marr your body is probably the best idea.
Shameless 6x12
I want this tattooed on me
A little louder for those in the back.

This is why people keep quiet about their mental illnesses…and why we need to speak up.
How To: Make Ink from Flowers
This is by far the most abundant ink I have in my house is that of inks made from flowers. This is the easiest and fastest inks to be made and require the least amount of materials to produce brilliant and soft colors. The inks from flowers can be either stunning and dark, or a lighter and more pale like one would expect from watercolor. Flower inks don’t last as long as inks produced from berries or nuts, and being left in the sunlight will fade their colors faster, but since this ink is so fast and easy to make, it can always be in supply. The shelf life of this ink is about a month if kept in the dark, but this is dependent on the color itself.
Materials:
- Glass containers (preferably mason jars or drinking cups)
- A pestle or other wooden tool (to crush the flowers with)
- Boiling water
- Cheese cloth
- Rubbing Alcohol or 100 Proof Vodka
- Glass storage container
- Optional: Gum Arabic
Steps:
- First, gather the flower petals of choice for the color desired (note some flower ink isn’t the same color as the flower petals).
- Take these petals and crush them into the glass container, stuffing as many as you can in 1/3rd of the container as possible. The more crushed the petals, the more color will come out.
- Fill the container with just enough boiling water to barely cover the flower petals. Do not fill the container, as this will dull the ink.
- Set this container aside to brew overnight (I actually leave mine in the window to brew for 24 hours).
- Strain the flower petals from the liquid, pouring the colored ink into a clean glass storage container.
- Add 1 part alcohol to the container and shake gently (do not shake hard enough to form bubbles).
- Optional: You may add Gum Arabic to give the ink a thicker consistency.
A recommendations on flowers, I have found that roses and other soft petaled flowers make a stronger ink.
drop the idea that you need some deep philosophical meaning behind your tattoo, if you got a tattoo simply because its aesthetically pleasing and for no other reason then good for you
aestheticism is the theory of art for art’s sake, and was championed by Oscar Wilde with the belief that surrounding oneself with beautiful things can directly influence the person one becomes. im taking a class on it. so basically every time u get a cool tattoo or a brooch u find in an antique store or a pretty wall print ‘just because u like it,’ Oscar Wilde is nodding approvingly
My sole mission in life is to make Oscar Wilde’s ghost approve of me
Society thinks heavily tattooed people are unstable lowlifes but I think there is something to be said of someone who pays a considerable amount of money for art, endures the pain of this art, and commits to it for the rest of their life.
if this post gets 100,000 notes ill get pepe the frog tattooed on me somewhere
u think im fuckin around? im not. im white af. ill do it. watch me
