usually this is because they’ve been punished in the past for voicing their opinions, not because they’re out to annoy you specifically. depending on how much flack they used to receive, it can be very stressful for them if you try and force them to offer up an idea.
a lot of my friends who do this appreciate me giving out like… three options. pick three different things that you will be happy to do any of and ask which of those three options they’d prefer. it removes the fear of “what if they don’t like my suggestion” without erasing their option to chose and have preferences so, you know, good all around
I can’t believe I even have to say this but disabled people who wear make up and dress nice are still disabled.
As someone who spends many days not able to bathe even when I’m soaking with sweat or wash my greasy hair or even change my clothes that I’ve been wearing for over 24 hours or brush my teeth as much as I should, the days when I am actually able to put on some nice clothes (the only pants I can wear are leggings so that means wearing a nice top and some jewellery to dress it up a bit is very important to me) and do my make up means the world to me.
I have every right to make myself feel confident by wearing make up and nice clothes on the rare days I feel up to it. Having that control over my appearance is a luxury for me. I should be able to do that without my disability being questioned.
